The Salvage at Sea Volume I - A ship manager's guide was developed by the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA) and Tsavliris Salvage (International) Ltd. in June 1996. The purpose of this guide is to offer the ship manager a check list, within a casualty response plan framework, to which he might refer in the event of one of his ships becoming a casualty. It is written in an effort to assist him to minimize the consequences of a casualty. It is also written in the hope that it will stimulate thought to the challenge of how best a ship manager and his staff might be assembled into an emergency response team to support a master who has a problem and to consider how to handle a casualty through a discipline of pre-planning and exercise
